Naver Webtoon, for one, has rolled out an in-house tool named Toon Radar that embeds invisible watermarks in each chapter. When a pirated copy turns up online, the watermark allows the company to trace it back to the specific account that downloaded it.

    People can also choose to do something else with their time and pick up a different hobby. In the long run this will be worse for the industry. There’s a wealth of data showing that piracy is good for business, it creates critical cultural mass with low barrier to entry.

    Still, good to know my tax money is being used to attack people who pirate mangas while real criminals like offshore tax facilitators live a care free life.
