Hello!
I am a new user, and decided to open a new community, based on a popular Reddit communitìy: LetsTalkMusic. I am very passionate about music, and I would love to speak about it in the Fediverse!
OP, may I also suggest promoting this on !communitypromo@lemmy.ca. It’s another community advertisement instance that can get you more visibility.
Also - it would probably be a good idea to ditch the Reddit log in the community header.
Adding to that, both because there’s still a strong anti-Reddit culture around, and because the logo is a glorious “full hd 1080p” meme example.
If a mascot is to be used as the logo, Lemmy’s follow a similar design as Reddit’s, so that could be used instead.
I ditched it, I just don’t know what to put as logo
FYI if you include a link formatted as !letstalkmusic@lemmy.zip it makes it easier for people to open the community from other instances.
Thanks! :)
why not use !music@lemmy.world ?
Imo at least, !music@lemmy.world is too generalist, so if an user wants to browse a specific niche, that wouldn’t be a good one as any such posts would have a tendency to be diluted in the feed.
Also, generalist communities are a hit or a miss for engagement from my experience, so a community whose purpose is explicitly for engagement should have a better chance to thrive.
The focus here is discussion, not link-sharing. It’s modelled on r/letstalkmusic I suspect.
exactly
It’s !letstalkmusic@lemmy.zip (more universal for those who don’t have a lemmy.zip account). Also drop the stupid reddit logo, we hate that here.
