Unfortunately sports is too intertwined with big money. It’s unlikely to happen.
It must be tough to spend so long training, to get to a peak of your skill and then feel the pressure of not partaking, not getting a shot at gold, because it clashes with ethics.
But I suppose the truth is to persue something like this in the first place you had to do a deal with corporate sponsorship so that’s that.
I am not trying to say years of training overrides ethics, just that it will be a tough choice for a lot, they are only human, trying to do something extraordinary. We continually tell people shoot for the stars.
I’m not trying to make excuses. I do believe we all have choices and I like to sleep at night knowing I feel like I chose empathy over money, power or achievement. But it’s gonna be a call a lot are gonna have to start making soon. They probs did not factors this in 5/10 years ago when they just too up athletics.
If American athletes have any self-respect, they’d sit out in protest.
