Hi guys, I am searching for a self hosted chore app where I can track chores for my household. I considered nextcloud chore so far, but it is not reliably maintained.
The software shuld be able for recurring chores with custom time patterns (timespans) that can be marked as compleded.
What software comes to your mind for chores?
I use Donetickfor reoccurring tasks

We’re using a self hosted habitica here, it’s not perfect by any means, but it gamifies it which is what we need here.

It’s going well. We’re in the mid 20s for level, and I get reminded to have fun. (I had to add a daily of “do something fun”. I found that I was being over stretched and stressed out, this makes me actively like part of my day.)

My only advice is to give yourself dailies that you actually want to work on, not things you should be doing. Put those in habits until you want to work on them.
Tasks are for bigger, one off projects like “decorate for Halloween”. … Which reminds me

Then bring it into HA for simple dashboard access (or to clear events triggered by something else, like starting the robo vac, or a button for when the diaper pail bag is taken out, etc)
While it’s fantastic software, it’s probably a relative cannon to shoot at his problem. Maybe there’s a way around this, but I’ve found the necessary management, curation and bookkeeping that was necessary for it too be useful to be just way too much to be worth it. I mean it’s fun for some, including me to a degree, but not too this extent.
I really dont find the management intensive at all, I mostly don’t think about it tbh. Thats why I caveated on self hosting, if its simple just an app will do. The moment you add in complication (multiple users for example) it starts to make quite a bit of sense. Most of those tasks also have a related consumable (and another task as a result, such as ordering diapers to use my diaper pail example). Even the robovac example goes to consumables, like replacing the filter/brushes/etc. Or cleaning the sheets means laundry detergent, etc.
Unless you mean the grocery portion, which I do while shopping to check needed items off the list and set the stock (simple scan from the phone).

Try nextcloud deck then. Less features, but for me it’s enough.
But Deck did not have recurring tasks.
I’ve been considering Donetick for this same purpose.
This looks like what I have searched for.
Superproductivity. Opensource, selfhosting possible, actively developed. Amazing all around. Just a bit overkill for this usecase, but not in a bad way :)
