With much thanks to PF’s site-runner, as well as good advice from @Blaze@piefed.social, we’ve successfully moved!

NEW ADDRESS:
https://piefed.social/c/eurographicnovels
OLD ADDRESS:
https://lemm.ee/c/eurographicnovels

On the positive tip, we were able to preserve ~390 out of ~550 historical posts, so that’s better than starting over. On a more sobering side, it looks like we’re going to lose most of our (current) ~1,260 subscribers, and PieFed being a different instance, running different software, it’s not clear to me if we’re going to get the same exposure to “ALL” streams that we once enjoyed.

While it’s true that I can invite individual members to join, it seems that (unlike PF), the Lemmy software doesn’t allow me to see a list of subscribers, even as the founder and head mod. If anyone has any ideas on that, feel free to advise…

In any case, I hope you find something you might like at our (now smaller 😅) community / sub-lemmy.

For some reason I can not access the new community coming from piefed.zip . Fetching it fails.

Try fetching them again - speaking only from experience with my own (Lemmy) server, when fetching a community not yet “visible” to it, reloading the link twice does the trick.

That being said, I just checked - I’m getting a server outage notice when trying to go on piefed.social.

Ah yes, looks like piefed.social is currently having an outage or trouble. That explains it

      Thanks, Abby Normal!
Btw, if you happen to know of any communities which might be interested in us, please give a holler…

Make sure you make a sticky post in the old community with the new address before lemm.ee shuts down. That way it will stick at the top of folks feeds, even after the instance is down, and people who find the old community will be able to tell at a glance what the new address is

There is indeed such a post (as you should be able to see?), but the link is in the body of the post (several times), not as a direct hotlink.

The issue I’ve always had with the standard Lemmy software is that it allows either a hotlink or an image in the ‘URL’ field, but not both. Take a look if you have a minute and let me know what you think, please?

Glad to see this! I don’t remember the password for my old lemm.ee account, but this was the only community I could think of that I would have missed from my subscriptions, so now you’ve saved me the effort of going looking for it.

Sorry, meant literature.cafe and whilst no, the upsides outweigh the historical data IMO.

Err… may I ask, based on what?

Personally, I put in hundreds of hours in to hundreds of mini-articles in the body of those ~400 posts I created across ~two years. For me, it would have to be an absolutely stellar set of features and security for me to go to some other instance which didn’t have the means to migrate anything over. Like, what would be the point, mate…?
