I’ll just wait for them to fix it lol
I’ll just wait for them to fix it lol
It’s just the one since the start menu/krunner disappear after launching something.
I just have to wait like 200ms but…I use AutoCAD for a living. I type commands and hit enter thousands of times a day. Really hard habit to break and frankly, I don’t want to break it!
Because - and I’m not defending this behavior - it launches the highlighted program as if you were navigating with arrows
Sadly didn’t fix the one bug that’s driven me crazy since switching…
The start menu and krunner needs to stop launching programs before I’m done typing.
Hit start, type “kwr,” hit enter. Konsole opens.
Why? Because when I typed “K,” it autocompleted to Konsole. And instead of waiting to resolve the remaining characters, it just launches whatever is selected.
Really tired of accidentally opening games when I’m already playing a game

Lemmy has a community identity problem. People copied all the subreddit names over but basically none of the posting rules that makes them unique.
How is nostupidquestions different than asklemmy?
Why is nottheonion full of headlines not in the style of The Onion?
Why is there a whitepeopletwitter at all when microblogmemes exists?
I think the lack of guidelines leads people to post whatever wherever. I see why you feel like you can’t escape politics in every community

Most repost bots don’t last long because bot posts kind of aren’t content. Forum sites like reddit and Lemmy are great for the comment section and bots don’t interact. I see the appeal of user who wants to post THEIR stuff to both sites but even then, it kinda feels like reddit gets the content and Lemmy gets the scraps.
I don’t mean this as a put down. This thing is better than anything I’ve ever made. I’m just concerned after seeing it happen countless times here. I’m kind of against automated posting in general because it takes the humanity from the internet

Honestly one of the worst things about Lemmy is the reddit-reposting bots. It floods the fediverse with posts that disincentivize participation (most people don’t want to post a reply to a bot)
When I first switched, I downloaded a half dozen ISOs and stuck em on a Ventoy drive along with some Windows and OS X ISOs.
Beats the hell out of the keychain I used to use
Lemmy absolutely has the same “seems right, I’ll upvoted it” problem as the rest of the Internet. You’ll regularly find an upvoted comment that’s just not based in reality
There’s different and then there’s worse. I switched to Linux a few months ago and gimp fits the latter category more often than not
I could not believe the answer I got when I looked up how to add an outline to text (select the pixels, grow selection, make a new layer, fill it with outline color)
Might have felt awful to write but it made me laugh out loud
I’m running Fedora and feel like a huge dork typing any KDE name in the start menu
I’m really hoping they add a bunch of shit to the taskbar in 6.7. Maybe the start menu can show some ads, too?? That would really help the users

I’m using all the default launch options for Steam and Battle.net (through Faugus Launcher), the only thing I’ve touched is Window Rules.
I was wrong when I said it worked for me - I forgot I still had Window Rules set for Terraria (the game that made me make this post). I just tried with BG3 and was unable to replicate it. Here is what I did, am I trying correctly?:
Set game to Borderless Window and disable VSync (tried it On as well, no change)
Alt+tab to other window. Meta+scroll up a bunch of times
Alt+tab to game. Meta+down once

How did you set scroll as a shortcut? I found the option but it doesn’t accept scrolling as an input
Either way, this has the same effect as Keep Below where ALL windows stay above the game. And still requires hiding the taskbar which I’m really trying to avoid - if for no other reason than it pops up any time my mouse gets near the bottom of the screen

Turns out it was turned off by default. I tried it both ways to no avail.
I can alt+tab and the window shows up above the game (until I click back into the game) so it’s obviously capable of it. Windows also have no issues displaying above the game when I have the game set to Keep Below Others.
I have no technical knowledge on how this works but it seems like “Keep Above Others” isn’t actually moving it to the top layer.

I will get that out tonight, thank you! I am more than willing to lose some FPS by comping the game.
I didn’t realize screen tearing was even enabled by default. Will I be limited on refresh rate? My display is 165hz

Borderless window keeps the taskbar visible and the vertical resolution is cropped to match

This is what I am using but nothing trumps Full Screen and Full Screen Window keeps the taskbar

Small correction: the A100, H100, and B200 all have PCIe configurations.
But as you said, no gaming. No directX and no HDMI output even
I’m getting a new PC for my elderly mom and installing Linux on it. It’s just that easy for day-to-day stuff
