Eh, honestly, Mint or Ubuntu would be a solid shout in this case. Both Linux distros are easy to use, having a lot of graphical tools that make interacting with the system easier. Steam+Heroic Launcher makes gaming a breeze for me (I’m running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on my gaming+productivity rig).

Let your friend make their choices, Ubuntu is fairly solid as a distro (one that I always seem to come back to)…I would only interfere if they actually wanted to use Windows for Music Production. Given how much of a dumpster fire, Windows 11 is at the moment; I wouldn’t let a friend use it without at least warning them about the potential risks of using a Microsoft made OS.

Unsurprising, they were hostile in the past to the idea, and always will be ambivalent. Given the direction that Windows is heading, it would be a time to consider cultivating fans on different operating systems. As Microsoft is messing up in a huge way these days.

I agree with Nick on this, Linux is interesting and awesome because there are so many choices for users to choose; upstream work is still shared and can be used to improve Linux as a whole. That will affect the quality of other distros going forward too.

Yes, we do…It will be hard, but the thing is that they can’t control us unless we give up. The US is a big place, it would require all of us to comply in advance for these chuds to win. There are many more civilians than in the military members and government combined, if we did a mass flash mob, there would be nothing they could do about it.

This is unsurprising, given the GOP has fascist designs and are doing what fascists do: Try to discredit and publically shame those who stand in their way of collapsing their nation into a fascist one. We’ve got to keep on resisting these incompetent chuds.
